Most popular choice

A quartz worktop combines the hardness of stone with easy everyday living

In quartz composite, crushed natural quartz is bound with resin into a slab with no pores on its surface. In practice this means coffee, wine and oil stay on the surface to be wiped off, and the worktop never needs treating during its whole life cycle. The shade and pattern are the same as in the sample, so the end result can be locked in at the design stage without the surprises of natural stone. For heavy everyday use, families with children and rental properties, quartz is the most carefree of stones — and if the choice of material is still on your mind, the guide choose the right worktop will help you get started. Looking for a natural stone with the look of marble? Also see quartzite worktops — a different material despite the similar name.

The most popular series come from four manufacturers: Silestone and Caesarstone calacatta patterns are the most sought after, Technistone offers Starlight shimmer surfaces and Avant Quartz a wide range of solid-colour shades. We machine every worktop on CNC machines in our own factory in Estonia, and the same team handles laser measuring and installation in Finland. Behind us are more than 13,000 completed projects and a Google rating of 4.8 — and before deciding you can compare shades as full slabs in our showroom.

Properties of a quartz worktop

Hygienic and stain-free

The non-porous surface does not absorb liquids and offers no breeding ground for bacteria. Blueberry, turmeric and red wine wipe off with a mild detergent — no marks or odours are left on the surface.

Withstands everyday kitchen life

The surface is hard and does not scratch in normal cooking. It is still worth using a chopping board for the sake of your knife edge, and a trivet is recommended for hot pans, as sudden heat can leave a mark on the resin binder.

An even, predictable look

The range of shades extends from light marble patterns to concrete looks and deep black. A polished surface deepens the colour, a matt one hides small marks — and the slab pattern always matches the sample.

Many applications

The worktop, an island and a splashback cut from the same slab are the most common uses. Quartz also works as a bathroom vanity top, in the utility room and on window sills — for outdoor kitchens we point you to ceramics.

Frequently asked questions

What makes up the price of a quartz worktop?

The price depends on the slab series and thickness, the worktop area, the edge profile, the number of cut-outs and the installation labour. Strongly patterned calacatta series cost more than solid colours, and an L-shaped worktop needs more joint planning than a straight one. You get a fixed quote after laser measuring — the price factors are explained on the page stone worktop prices.

How do you care for a quartz worktop?

In everyday use, wiping with water and a mild detergent is enough — there is no separate care routine and no sealing is ever needed. Avoid scouring powders and strong solvents, which can dull the shine over time, and loosen dried stains with a soft sponge. You will find more detailed instructions and suitable products on the page care and cleaning.

How quickly is a quartz worktop installed?

Delivery and installation in Finland — 14 working days from drawing approval. Our measurer visits the site with a laser, the measurements go straight to the factory’s CNC machine, and the installation date is agreed already at the measuring visit. Because the same team is responsible for the whole chain, the schedule does not depend on middlemen.

Quartz or ceramic worktop?

Quartz is the carefree all-round solution for an indoor kitchen: a wide range of shades and a structure that is forgiving at the edges. Ceramic, on the other hand, withstands a hot pan directly on the surface and UV light, so it is the choice for an outdoor kitchen. Indoors, quartz is usually the most natural choice — the differences between materials are collected in the guide choose the right worktop.

Is a quartz worktop suitable for an IKEA kitchen?

It fits perfectly. We laser-measure the IKEA cabinets after the units are installed and machine the worktop to the actual dimensions, so the result fits even when the walls are not perfectly straight. We have collected our experience from IKEA projects in the article IKEA kitchen stone worktop.

What is quartz used for?

Quartz composite is most commonly used for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops, window sills and wall panels. It is suited to indoor use: the non-porous surface withstands everyday wear without sealing. For outdoor kitchens we recommend ceramic, which withstands UV light.
