Why make the splash zone in stone rather than tiles?
In a tiled splash zone, the grout lines are the first thing to get dirty. A stone splash guard is one continuous surface with no joints, and grease or coffee splashes are wiped away in a single stroke. When the splash guard is made from the same slab as the worktop, the pattern and shade continue unbroken from the worktop up the wall. At our factory we often cut the splash guard from the same stone slab as the worktop, so no material goes to waste and the result reads as one whole.
With us, the splash guard is always planned during the measurement. The measurer checks where the sockets and switches are, how the cooker hood defines the panel and whether the stone ends at the wall units or at the ceiling. Cut-outs are machined on a CNC at the factory, so nothing is drilled or sawn on site. For a full wall or a fireplace surround we often recommend thin ceramic: a 12 mm panel is light, withstands heat and is available in large pieces.

Sockets, switches and the cooker hood position are measured on site and machined on a CNC. On installation day the panel is lifted into place without any dusty work in your kitchen.
Thin ceramic for large surfaces
A full wall or fireplace surround works well in 12 mm ceramic, which is light, heat-resistant and available in pieces over three metres long without a joint.

Quartz
The most common choice for a splash guard paired with the worktop. Dense and stain-resistant, but behind the hob we protect it from heat with sufficient distance or with ceramic.
Ceramic
The best option behind the hob and around a fireplace: withstands heat, does not stain, and the 12 mm panel also suits full walls and large surfaces.
Granite
A durable, heat-tolerant natural stone. Suits a splash guard paired with a granite worktop and a fireplace surround; sealed at installation.
Marble
A striking veined surface for a splash guard or full wall. More sensitive to acids and grease, so we recommend sealing and regular care.

From measurement to installation
Measurement
We laser-measure the splash zone once the worktop is in place, or on the same visit as the worktop. We mark the sockets, switches and the cooker hood boundaries.
Fabrication at our own factory
The panel is cut and the cut-outs machined on a CNC at our factory in Tallinn. The edges are finished and the surface inspected before packing.
Delivery
Delivery and installation in Finland — 10 working days from measurement. We agree the installation day with you at the ordering stage and confirm it before delivery.
Installation
The same team that measured bonds the panel in place and finishes the joints with silicone. The sockets are refitted, and we check the result together with you.
Questions and answers
Can the splash guard be made from the same slab as the worktop?
Yes, and it is the most common approach. When the worktop and splash guard are ordered together, we cut the splash guard from the same stone slab. The pattern and shade continue seamlessly, with no shade differences between batches. If the worktop is already installed, we aim to find the same material and batch in our stock of over 100 stone materials.
How quickly is the splash guard in place?
Delivery and installation in Finland — 10 working days from measurement. If the splash guard is ordered with the worktop, both are measured and installed on the same visit. Ordered separately, we come to measure once the worktop and sockets are in place, and the installation is agreed at the same time.
How much does a splash guard cost?
The price depends on the material, size and number of cut-outs. We give a fixed quote after the measurement, once we know the exact dimensions and socket positions. We make the panel at our own factory, so no retailer margin is added to the price. You can claim the kotitalousvähennys (household deduction) on the installation work.
Does a stone splash guard hold up behind the hob?
Ceramic and granite withstand heat without any problem. Quartz handles normal cooking, but we do not recommend it right next to a gas hob without a safe distance. During the measurement we check the hob type and, if needed, suggest ceramic behind the hob even if the rest of the splash guard is quartz.
How are sockets and switches handled?
During the measurement we mark the position of every socket and switch, and the openings are machined at the factory on a CNC to the millimetre. At installation the panel is placed over the boxes and the cover plates are refitted. If sockets need to be moved, the electrical work is done as a separately priced service before the measurement.
