Why are two stone worktop quotes rarely comparable?

Because they seldom describe the same job. One quote may include installation and removal of the old top, the other just a slab at the factory gate. When the totals look similar, the difference usually hides in the details — and those details only cost you later.

Where do quotes usually differ?

These eight lines explain practically every difference we see in the quotes customers send us.

Thickness. Is the slab solid, or is a built-up edge glued on? The look can be the same; the structure is not.
Edge profile. Straight, bevelled, rounded or mitred? A mitred edge is the most labour-intensive and shows in the price.
Cut-outs. Are the openings for the sink, tap, hob and sockets included, or charged separately?
Sink mounting. Undermount, top-mount or integrated sink? The mounting method affects both fabrication and the end result.
