Silestone in Finland — measurement, machining and installation from the same team

Silestone slabs arrive directly at our factory in Tallinn, an hour’s ferry ride from Helsinki. There the slab is cut and profiled on CNC machines, the cut-outs are made to laser-measured dimensions and every worktop is inspected before loading. The same team measures your kitchen in Finland and installs the worktop, so the measurement record does not travel between a retailer and a subcontractor. At the measurement we check the straightness of the walls, the levelling of the cabinet carcasses, the position of the hob and sink, and whether a joint is needed and where it is best placed. Over more than 20 years and 13,000+ projects we have learned that most installation-day problems arise from exactly these points — so they are resolved before the slab is touched.

Which Silestone is right for you?

Silestone’s collections differ from each other more than many assume. The Ethereal series is a collection of light, softly veined marble looks: it suits a large island where the pattern can continue. Le Chic aims for the mood of classic stones such as Calacatta and black marble, with stronger veining. Sunlit Days is a colourful, matt collection from light pastels to deep shades — often the choice for a bathroom or splashback. The Loft series imitates concrete and cement and sits alongside dark oak doors or steel. The finish also affects the choice: glossy shows the shade at its deepest, matt is calm but shows fingerprints and grease stains more readily than polished. We recommend viewing samples at home in your own lighting, because a showroom spotlight and northern window light bring out a different shade from the same slab. Silestone in the kitchen, bathroom and elsewhere

The most common use is the kitchen worktop and island top, and often the splashback is made from the same slab, so the joint is almost invisible. On a bathroom vanity top Silestone works well, because the surface does not absorb water or cosmetics; an undermounted or top-mounted sink is decided at the measurement. Utility room worktops, windowsills and fireplace surrounds are also common uses. For a covered terrace or barbecue shelter we point you towards ceramic, as constant UV radiation can alter the shade of quartz composite over time. All sites are laser-measured and installed by the same team.

What makes up the price of a Silestone worktop?

The series and its pattern, the slab thickness, the square metres and shape of the worktop, the edge profile, the number of cut-outs and the amount of installation work. The strongly veined Ethereal and Le Chic series cost more than plain shades, and an L-shaped worktop needs more machining and a joint compared with a straight one. We give a fixed quote only after the measurement, when we know the square metres and joints exactly. When the slab comes from our own factory, the whole package is typically 20–40 % cheaper than through a retailer. Removal of the old worktop, appliance and electrical connections and plumbing are priced separately.

Care and durability in everyday life

Silestone cleans with a mild detergent and water; scouring powders and strong solvents are not needed and not recommended. Sealing is never done, because the surface is non-porous. A hot pan goes on a trivet, and a chopping board is used under the knife — not so much for the worktop as for the knife blade. On a matt surface, grease stains are wiped up immediately; a glossy surface is more forgiving. You will find more detailed instructions on the maintenance and cleaning page.

How quickly is a Silestone worktop installed?

Delivery and installation in Finland — 10 working days from measurement. The schedule holds because machining is done at our own factory rather than in a queue at an outside operator. The installation date is agreed at the measurement, and we tell you what needs to be ready on site: cabinet carcasses fixed and levelled, sink and hob on hand or their dimensions known.

Can I claim the household deduction for installing a Silestone worktop?

You can claim the kotitalousvähennys (household deduction) for the installation work. We itemise the labour share as a separate line on the invoice, and you claim the deduction yourself in OmaVero. The deduction covers labour only, not material or transport; check the current terms and maximum amounts on vero.fi before ordering.

Silestone or Dekton — which should you choose?

If the worktop is going into an indoor kitchen and you want a wide range of shades and a warmer feel, Silestone is the natural choice. If hot pans are set straight on the worktop or the worktop is going outdoors, Dekton withstands more. We compare samples at the measurement; also read Dekton or Silestone.

Will a joint be visible in a Silestone worktop?

A worktop longer than three metres or L-shaped usually gets a joint. We place it at the sink or hob, where it stays short, and bond it with a filler tinted to the shade of the slab. In plain and fine-grained shades the joint is almost unnoticeable; with strong veining the direction of the pattern is planned before cutting.
